Tropical Storm Don forms over the southern Gulf of Mexico.

The National Hurricane Center is watching a Tropical Wave over the northwestern Caribbean Sea, but the system does not have a closed circulation at this time. Additional slow development of this system is possible during the next couple of days as it moves toward the west northwest around 15 mph. If it continues on the models projected path, there would be a slight chance of thunderstorms this weekend over south and central Texas.

Current radar as of 2:30pm across Central Texas. Isolated storms will continue through this afternoon with the primary threat of lighting and brief high winds with the stronger storms.
