Hurricane Irene made landfall around 11:30 UTC just west of Cape Lookout in North Carolina. The estimated intensity at landfall was 75 KT (86.4 MPH) Radar image as of 12:42 PM CDT

    Hurricane Irene has moved offshore of New Jersey (justs se of North folk,Va) although it has only a
    few hrs back over open waters.The storm may intensifly back to 100 mph before moving ashore
