Data from the Hurricane Hunter Aircraft indicate that Sandy has reached hurricane strength. Present movement is to the north-north east at 13 MPH. Sandy is approximately 30 miles south of Kingston Jamaica with maximum sustained winds at 80 MPH.

Tropical Storm Katia has now been upgraded to a Hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 MPH. Also watching the Gulf Of Mexico as disorganized thunderstorms associated with a trough of low pressure could develop into a tropical cyclone during the next day or so.
